Coimbra

Coimbra, capital do Distrito de Coimbra, a maior cidade da região Centro de Portugal e situada na sub-região do Baixo Mondego, com cerca de 143 396 habitantes. Sendo o maior núcleo urbano, é centro de referência na região das Beiras, Centro de Portugal com mais de dois milhões de habitantes.

Cidade historicamente universitária, por causa da Universidade de Coimbra, conta atualmente com cerca de 30 mil estudantes.

Coimbra possui uma mística fruto de seu passado e memórias gloriosos, e de sua característica arquitetônica de ruas estreitas, pátios, escadinhas e arcos medievais, Coimbra também foi berço de nascimento de seis reis de Portugal. Assim como a primeira universidade de Portugal e uma das mais antigas da Europa e do Mundo, fundada em 1290.

As the first university in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe and the World, founded in 1290.
